15 Ways To Make a Dog’s Day

Dogs can make our day without even trying. Today is the day to repay the favour by show man’s best friend just how much we love them!

Don’t have a dog? Why not volunteer at a dog shelter? There are rescues full of dogs who would love some extra cuddles, playtime or walks!  You’ll make a dog’s day by showering them in much-needed affection, it is sure to make their day!

Here are a few of our favourites:

Or if you’re short on time, buy an item listed on their Rescue Wishlist or donate some food, blankets or toys.

If you are lucky enough to share your life with a canine sidekick, try out some of our favourite pet activities:

  • Buy a new toy, or better yet, make one!

  • Play a brain game. Tug of war, fetch, find it, the cup game… The list goes on!

  • Put some treats in a puzzle feeder for a rewarding challenge!

  • Have a cuddle, or a “cwtch” as us Welsh say.

  • Pamper your pooch with a grooming session.

  • Upgrade their dog bed – if they don’t already sleep on yours…

  • Go to a doggy adventure park like ours! https://johnburnsfoundation.org/dog-park/

  • Plan a dog-friendly adventure. Where will you go?

  • Go on a dog-friendly break– paw on over to dogfuriendly.com for ins-paw-ration.

  • Learn a new trick, and don’t forget the Burns Training Bites!

  • Try your paw at paddle boarding!

  • Get creative with treats! Hide them around the garden, or maybe bake your own? Try our recipe for our Pumpkin Biscuits. https://burnspet.co.uk/nutrition-blog/easy-three-ingredient-pumpkin-dog-biscuits/

  • Blow some dog-friendly bubbles for your dog to chase and pop!

  • Arrange a doggy play date!

  • Try a new hobby, such as fly ball, heelwork to music, agility, scent work or canicross.

Your pet may be a big part of your life, but you are their whole world!
