Dog Food with simple, natural and healthy ingredients

Our dog food is intended for all-round holistic pet health and has been recommended and developed by Founder and Veterinary Surgeon John Burns for happy and healthy pets.  It’s what’s inside that counts.

We focus on using a handful of simple, wholesome ingredients so that your pet can get all the nutrients they need with absolutely no artificial nasties providing a natural balance for your dog.

The Vitamins and supplements used in our healthy dog food

Chondroitin sulphate

Chondroitin sulphate is an important part of cartilage, it is a supplement often used alongside glucosamine for healthy joints. We use this in our Large & Giant Breed dry dog food.

Glucosamine is a dietary supplement to support the joints. We use this in our Large & Giant Breed dry dog food.

We add in minerals to our diets to make sure your pet is getting all the nutrients they need. The minerals we add to our dry dog food will vary depending on the variety of food, but it often includes iodine, manganese, zinc and selenium. These are all important nutrients to help the body to stay healthy.

MSM -Methylsulfonylmethane

A natural joint supplement, MSM comes from green plants as well as animals. We use this in our Large & Giant Breed dry dog food.

Sunflower oil

Sunflower oil is high in fatty acids which are crucial ingredients for a healthy dog and are beneficial for the maintenance of healthy skin. It is great for the upkeep of a shiny, healthy coat and contains omega-3’s as well as omega-6.

Salmon oil

Salmon oil is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that help to support a healthy heart, skin and coat. It is also involved with the immune system and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have also suggested it can improve cognitive function.

Whole Linseed

Linseed provides omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and they also contain fibre and protein. Fibre is important to a dog’s digestive health, while protein provides energy and keeps the immune system healthy. The oils help to maintain a good skin and coat as well as cognitive abilities.

Ethically sourced healthy and natural ingredients

Our priority has always been to supply natural, healthy food for dogs.

Our free-range eggs and seasonal vegetables in our wet food range come from our very own farm  and wherever possible, we use organic brown rice and free-range meat sourced in Wales.

We take our ingredients seriously with your dogs health and well being always a priority.

Our natural plant based ingredients

Brown Rice

Brown rice is a wholegrain, it is a complex carbohydrate and is low in fat. It is high in fibre which helps to give a steady release of energy and maintain a healthy digestive system. Manganese, selenium, magnesium and vitamin B3 are also present as well as antioxidants.

Buckwheat is a seed and has a wide variety of nutritional benefits. Despite its name, it is not related to wheat and is gluten free. It is a complex carbohydrate, giving a slow release of energy. It is also high in fibre and is a great source of vitamins and minerals.

Blueberry Extract

Mixed Herbs

The mixed herbs we use are a combination of parsley, oregano, thyme, basil, fennel, rosemary extract, alfalfa and fenugreek. These herbs have a variety of benefits and help to holistically support overall health.

Oats are high in fibre; this makes them a great ingredient for hungry dogs as it may make them feel fuller for longer. High fibre levels are also important in maintaining a healthy digestive system. A variety of different vitamins and minerals are also in oats, including manganese, phosphorus and iron.

Peas are high in fibre and low in fat, they also contain vitamins, including vitamins A, K, and B. They’re packed with important minerals like iron, zinc, potassium, and magnesium. We also use pea protein and pea starch in some of our diets to give the nutrients an added boost.

Our quality meat ingredients

Chicken Meal

Chicken is lean protein which is important for the growth and repair of muscles due to the high level of amino acids. It has vitamin B6 which helps to maintain a healthy brain. To keep the nutrients in our dry dog food more consistent we use chicken meal which is 100% chicken, dried and made into a powder.

Chicken Oil/Fat

Chicken oil is high in essential fatty acids and is in our chicken varieties of food. Chicken oil also contains linoleic acid which is important for the skin, kidneys and bones. Iron, magnesium, zinc and potassium are also present. Dogs and cats also find chicken oil very tasty so it’s a good option for fussy dogs.

Hydrolysed Chicken

Our Cat Duck & Potato food contains hydrolysed chicken to naturally add extra flavour as cats are notoriously fussy. If a cat has a chicken allergy, they will be unlikely to react to hydrolysed chicken.

Duck Meal

Duck is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants as well as being a good source of protein. It is a novel protein source to most dogs and if a dog has never eaten duck before, they won’t have had chance to build up a reaction to it. Therefore, we often use our duck-based diets for dogs prone to allergies. Using duck meal helps to keep the dry dog food more consistent, it is a high-quality ingredient and is 100% dried duck.

Duck Fat

Duck fat is a healthy fat and contains linoleic acid which is important for the skin, kidneys and bones. Duck fat contains antioxidants and minerals such as zinc and selenium. It can also be a great option for fussy dogs due to it being very tasty.

Lamb fat has omega fatty acids such as linoleic acid which is important for the skin, kidneys and bones. It’s a good source of the B Vitamins which have various roles in blood health as well as keeping the immune system healthy and maintaining good energy levels.

Pork is a novel protein source so is particularly suitable for sensitive dogs with allergies. It is an old wives’ tale that canines cannot eat pork and due to this, it works particularly well as many won’t have eaten it before. Our pork comes from assured farms and complies with EU legislation for animal welfare standards.

Pork Fat

Pork fat is high in essential fatty acids such as omega 6 which helps to maintain a healthy coat. It is also a good source of B vitamins and minerals. It helps make the food more naturally tasty.
