Burns Pet Nutrition came into being because of John Burns’ experiences as a veterinary surgeon and the company keeps in touch with its roots by supporting young veterinary students around the UK. Earlier this year Burns’ helped fund newly graduated vet Anna Beber’s time with the Worldwide Veterinary Service’s training programme in Tamil Nadu, India.
Rabies is a massive problem in India and this internationally supported programme aims to help control both dog numbers and the spread of the disease through vaccination and neutering. It provides newly qualified vets with an invaluable opportunity to gain both experience and confidence at the same time as teaching native animal workers the skills they need to expand the rabies control programme. Anna said “It was an amazing experience and the project will make a difference to millions of animal and human lives. It would not have been possible for me to undergo this experience but for Burns’ generous donation.”
