Staffies are often seen in a negative light, through no fault of their own, but as with other misunderstood breeds, due to the manner they have been used and portrayed by us. Despite all of this it is impossible to hide their undeniable character traits.

  • Good family pet

  • Full of character and personality
  • Never a dull moment or a sad face when there is a Staffie around

 

Bio:

Medium sized

Short haired

Muscular build

Partial to a tummy rub

Strong

Eager to please

Stubborn

Strong willed

Can range between 11-17kg in weight

Crave companionship

Can be left for short periods but don’t cope well on their own for long periods

Carry typical terrier traits – have been known to dig and chase small furry animals

Not always the best with other dogs

Agility and obedience are good avenues to explore

Early socialisation is vital

Can live up to 14 years

 

Famous Staffies:

Sui, the dog of the famous late Australian conservationist, Steve Irwin

Cooper, Staffordshire Bullterrier adopted by Staffordshire Police to train as a police dog

Sergeant Stubby (1916 or 1917 – March 16, 1926), was the most decorated war dog of World War I and the only dog to be promoted to Sergeant through combat
