Happy Easter!

by Emily Boardman BSc. (Hons)

Easter weekend is around the corner, keep reading for which foods to keep away from your pets (and what to feed them instead…!)

  • Fatty meats – eating fatty scraps of meat such as lamb from your Sunday dinner can cause digestive upset and can also lead to pancreatitis.
  • Hot cross buns – often contain raisins and although they seem small, can be extremely toxic to our pets
  • Chocolate – we love that you’re willing to share, but chocolate is unfortunately toxic to dogs and cats

So what should I give my dog for an easter treat instead?

How about our special edition EASTER EGG-STRAVAGANZA wet food

What about your spring garden?

Unfortunately, things such as daffodil bulbs can also be toxic to our pets. See nutritionist Karen’s guide to a pet-friendly garden.

I studied Applied Medical Sciences at Swansea University and have a keen interest in veterinary science and hope to be able to do more research in the future. No two days are the same at Burns and not only does this job allow me to continuously learn about animal nutrition but also means I get to talk about dogs all day!
