Brown rice: this complex carbohydrate is a wholegrain. Low in fat and high in fibre, brown rice gives a steady release of energy, helping to maintain a healthy digestive system. It also contains manganese, selenium, magnesium and vitamin B3, as well as antioxidants.
Chicken Meal: the meal is 100% chicken, dried and made into a powder. This helps keep the nutrients more consistent in the food. Chicken is a lean protein, important for the growth and repair of muscles due to its high level of amino acids. It also contains B6 which helps to maintain a healthy brain.
Chicken oil: high in essential fatty acids, chicken oil contains linoleic acid which is important for the kidneys, bones and skin. It also contains iron, magnesium, zinc and potassium. This is a good food to try if you have a fussy dog as chicken oil is very tasty.
Sunflower oil: high in fatty acids it can help maintain healthy skin and coat and all-round health. It also contains omega 3 and omega 6.
Oats: a wholegrain with similar benefits to brown rice. Oats contain fibre which helps maintain a healthy digestive system.
Peas: high in fibre, low in fat and containing lots of vitamins and minerals.
Seaweed: the seaweed we use is Ascophyllum nodosum and is a natural source of organic minerals. Seaweed contains vitamins including A, B1, C, D and E.

Roll forward to today and this award-winning food (we don’t mean to brag) may have had a name change and a few wardrobe changes, but inside the food has stayed exactly the same.
All of the diets that followed in the footsteps of Burns Original Chicken and Rice have been made to the same simple formula:
