Dogs' Day Out Glamis

We're so excited to launch the second edition of our Dogs' Day Out event at Glamis Castle. Here's all you need to know about this summer's event.

When?
This year's show is on Sunday 30th July 2017, from 10am - 4pm.

Where?
The event is being held at the stunning Glamis Castle in Scotland, winner of the best attraction award for the UK 2015.

Glamis Castle is to the north of Dundee can be easily accessed from all major towns and cities.

Rail
Dundee Train Station is situated 12 miles from Glamis. Public bus services depart from the Seagate bus station in Dundee to Forfar. A connecting bus service is available from Forfar to Glamis.

How much is it?
Car parking is £4.00 per vehicle. Admission to the show is free of charge. The have-a-go activities are £1 per dog per go payable in the ring. The dog show is also £1, payable in the ring and no registration is required. Participation in the world record attempt is £3.00 per dog – please see further information on this below

What should I bring?
In previous years at Dogs' Day Out, we've had soggy showers and blazing hot sunshine! Dress accordingly for the weather and make sure you have plenty of fluids to keep you and your dog hydrated.

Class 1   13.10     Best Dressed Tartan Team         

  • Best turned out & most appropriately attired dog & handler wearing tartan.
  • The dog must be in its natural state with no dying, colouring etc
  • Open to all dogs

Class 2   13.30     Golden Oldies                                  

  • Judged on condition & fitness for age & type
  • Open to all dogs aged 8 years or over

 

Class 3   13.50     Shining Examples                            

  • Judged on condition & fitness
  • Open to all dogs aged 12 months or over

 

Class 4   14.10     Perfect Pups                                     

  • Judged on condition & character
  • Open to all vaccinated puppies aged between 14 weeks & 12 months

 

Class 5   14.30     Lovely Ladies                                    

  • Judged on condition & character
  • Open to all female dogs over 12 months old

 

Class 6   14.50     Dashing Dogs                                    

  • Judged on condition & character
  • Open to all male dogs over 12 months old

 

Class 7   15.10     A Bit of Ruff!                                     

  • Judged on condition, character & appearance
  • Open to all wonky, scruffy or otherwise challenged dogs

 

Class 8   15.30     Lynne’s Choice                                 

  • Open to any dog which has not won a rosette in classes 1-7
  • Judge’s own rules will apply

Class 9  15.50     Best in Show                                     

  • Open to the winners of classes (1-8 only)

 

World Record Attempt

This year we will be attempting to make history by breaking the Guinness World RecordsTM  Title for the Most Dogs Wearing Bandanas. The current record is 764 and we are hoping to beat this. To enter your dog, visit: http://burnspet.co.uk/dogs-day-out-at-glamis-2017-world-record-attempt.html

World Record Attempt Housekeeping

-Dogs must be at least 1 year old, healthy and fit on the day of the show. This is specified in the Guinness record attempt guidelines.

-Any dog which, in the opinion of the veterinary team, is not old enough or fit enough to participate will fail verification

-All entries will be verified by veterinary staff before the attempt.

-The record attempt will take place at approximately 12.45

-The Verification Tent will be by the main arena and open from 10:00 am until 12.30

-When you arrive at the show, please take your dog(s) and their registration forms straight to the Verification Tent so we can process your entry.

-Dogs which have not completed the verification process on the day will not be able to take part in the attempt.

There will be a variety of great displays to see in the main arena - more info to follow.

Guest Appearances

We have Scotland's Ambassadog, Golden George the Retriever joining us. George will be leading the breed parade at 11am.

Have a go activities
The have-a-go activities run all day, with the prize giving in the main arena after the dog show. Admission will be £1 per go, payable in the ring. No booking is necessary.

There's a wide range of stands to visit where you can learn about various animal organisations, charities and purchase pet-themed products. There's also fun attractions for children and plenty of refreshments stands.
