Similar to getting top marks at school, it's always nice to be reassured that we're doing something right here at Burns HQ. So you can imagine our delight when we heard the news that we've been shortlisted for not one, but two awards.
The first is the Living Wage Champion Award which celebrates individuals and organisations that have made a difference by supporting the Living Wage movement. We became an accredited Living Wage employer in 2014 and were lucky enough to win the Leadership Award for the Wales region last year, so it's an honour to be up for an award again. Speaking on the subject of the Living Wage, business owner John Burns said,
“I wanted Burns Pet Nutrition to join the Campaign for a Living Wage to demonstrate that we are an ethical employer. In truth it was easy for us to qualify as we already pay our staff in excess of the Living Wage. The former Chancellor George Osborne’s new National Living Wage is really just an increased minimum wage and is set pitifully low so cannot provide a reasonable standard of living.”
We'll be attending the Living Wage Week Marketplace at London Parliament on Wednesday November 4th and look forward to meeting the other organisations who have been shortlisted.
In addition we're also in the running to win Manufacturer of the Year as chosen by The Pet Industry Federation. We'll be attending the PIF Awards in November where the winner will be announced.
All in all this autumn is shaping up to be very exciting indeed!<< Back to all news
