Support dogs can be vital in helping people to achieve things that otherwise may be outside of their comfort zone.
This includes things like supporting prisoners with anxiety and confidence issues and supporting children who need to improve concentration and confidence in the learning environment. Reading to dogs schemes can offer huge benefits to the children that are fortunate enough to take part. For these reasons we run our own reading dog scheme and sponsor two support dog volunteers and their dogs.
The Burns By Your Side reading dog scheme allows for the company to give back to schools in the local community by supporting volunteers to train their dogs to be reading dogs. The volunteers and their dogs visit the local schools and undertake sessions listening to the children read. This support helps the children to improve their confidence in reading aloud.
We sponsor the below:
Tony and his Greyhound Danny are London based reading dog volunteers. Danny recently appeared on ITV programme Britain’s Top 100 Dogs.
Jacqui and Alfie spent a number of years working in a prison. Alfie was a prison support dog until unfortunately ill health dictated his retirement.
Giving animals the chance to meet their potential and to live the happiest life possible gives us an enormous sense of satisfaction. Could we help you? For more information about sponsorship opportunities please contact us on the link below.
