Oz and Ru's update

Published: Wednesday, July 8, 2015

We caught up with Susie following her trip to the Netherlands with the WAO (World Agility Open) Team Wales in May this year.

Me and Ozzie running at the event.

The trip to the Netherlands was amazing - it was a fantastically run competition and was great to meet up and watch handlers competing from all over the world. Oz (my Working Sheepdog) was amazing - I was so proud of how we ran in both events. we competed in 2 events and we were also the 525 Welsh Team dog.

The Pentathlon event (run over 5 rounds) was going great but unfortunately a handling error at the end of the 4th course gave us an e and cost us dearly. In the Biathlon (run over 2 rounds) Oz was clear in the 1st round and lying 8th and then in the agility round was clear in 4th place which meant that we had an overall 5th place.

There was such a great line up of dogs and handlers - it was a brill competition and I'm very proud of myself and Oz for this achievement!

The team - with Barrie dressed up in his Wales outfit for the Opening Ceremony!

The show season is well underway and both Oz and Ru are getting some great places in competition. We were a little unlucky in the Olympia qualifiers with Oz coming 6th - the top 5 qualify so we narrowly missed out. Ru had the fastest time twice but had an unlucky pole. However, Oz qualified on the weekend for the UKA Masters FInal in November and there are still a few more qualifiers to go, so fingers crossed for them!
