Location: Burns Head Office 99 Ferry Road, Kidwelly, SA17 5EJ (or any other area we may reasonably determine).

Contract: Fixed term (maternity cover) part time employment contract:

Start date: Monday 18th November 2019
End date: Friday 7th August 2020

Hours: Basic contract of 22.5 hours over 3 days per week. 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Working days are flexible and can be discussed at interview
30 minute lunch break

Job Summary

Support the BPN Foundation Programme Development Manager (PDM) and the BPN Foundation team to develop strategies, projects and services to be delivered by the Burns Pet Nutrition Foundation. Ensure that meaningful project management processes are in place and are maintained.

A positive and fully flexible approach to work is essential to the role including additional hours as required for business travel, attending shows, training, weekend work and any additional hours as required by the business.

Key Responsibilities

Support the PDM with raising awareness of the work of Burns Pet Nutrition Foundation (BPNF) by:

  • Delivering our Burns by Your Side learning support dog programme and contributing new ideas for growth and diversity.
  • Support the volunteer management programme for our Burns by Your Side (BBYS) learning support dog scheme.
  • Develop and implement the BBYS human and canine training programme.
  • Co-ordinate and develop a variety of canine training courses using different techniques to compliment and run alongside BBYS.
  • Responsible for initial and continuing canine assessment procedures for volunteer teams, in line with the BBYS scheme requirements.
  • Co-ordinate and build relationships with our Community partners i.e. schools and education settings via meetings, presentations and school assemblies.
  • Actively keep up to date with current dog training qualifications and legislation around our canine training procedures.
  • Be actively involved with organising Burns Pet nutrition Foundation fund-raising events or challenges and other related events; and in addition, provide support with the Burns Pet Nutrition Events programme.
  • Develop further stakeholder engagement to assist and engage with our beneficiaries as appropriate.
  • General office and administration duties as required.

Health and Safety

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the workplace in line with remote working procedures.
  • Co-operate with Burns’ organisational policies and procedures for Health and Safety including PPE and reporting adverse events.
