Nerdy; tear staining; performing animals
Posted: 24th May 2011
The other evening I came home in a rush to go out again. A quick bath and off. On the way upstairs I found the June issue of Dogs Today lying on the mat. While running the bath I thought I would have a quick look to see if any of my contributions to the on-line Think Tank had made it into the magazine proper. I had three mentions but there was a question about tear staining on a Westie which I had missed. This was accompanied by a long answer by Nick Thompson, one of the DT resident vets. Before I knew it, I was lying in the bath reading Dogs Today!
I think dogs may be becoming an obsession.
Tear
staining
Nick
Thompson’s comments about tear staining centred on the likelihood that there
might be excess tear production or that the ducts might be blocked, although he
didn’t comment on why there might be excess tear production or blocked
tear ducts. We’ve found that our Burns foods can often clear up the problem
which I think is due primarily to an excess of waste matter in the system. Tear
staining is basically a sign of toxic overload.
The Westie owner who had written in commented that she had heard that food could cause tear-staining but she was already using a good brand of food. Unfortunately, any “good” brand will not do it; nutrition has to be more targeted and specific.
I can’t resist the urge to write in to Dogs Today.
Performing
animals
The
Independent newspaper has opened a campaign to stop wild animals being trained
to perform in circuses. The government is not in favour; they see it as more
red tape!
