Judith Doble & her Agility dogs

Judith Doble
Welsh Agility competitor Judith Doble lives in Efail Isaf, Pontypridd, with her three dogs.  She began agility in 2005 with Raja, a Lab x Retriever. Raja now takes a back seat to the two girls but still enjoys his jumping classes.

Indie – (Tumble’s Black Magic)
Judith got Indie, a Collie x Flat Coat Retriever (she thinks!) in June 2006 from Lizzie’s Barn Sanctuary, Llanelli when she was just seven months old. Indie had been abused, came with many issues and wasn’t the easiest dog to train.  Judith says that she has taught her many valuable lessons. Indie started competing in 2007, when she was 18 months old, and quickly went from grade 1 to grade 3. She qualified for many finals and won the SARL Rescue League grade 1 final in 2008, came 2nd in Agility Club Starters Final as well as 3rd in Sassy Dogs Novice UKA final. Indie now competes at Grade 4 KC and Championship level at UKA.  Judith says “Indie is very vocal and gives you a running commentary when competing and training; unfortunately she does not have an off switch.” Indie has recently qualified to be on the Welsh Agility Team and will compete at the Word Agility Open Championships in May 2011 and has qualified once again for the SARL Rescue League final 2011.

Kali – (Tumble’s Gaelic Charm)
Kali is also a rescue dog from Lizzie’s Barn Sanctuary and Judith got her at four months old. Originally from Ireland, Kali is a Sprollie (Spaniel x Collie). According to Judith she is the complete opposite of Indie and is a calm dog who fitted well into the pack.  Judith started competing with Kali in April 2010, at grade 3 level, when she was 18 months old. Kali won out of grade 3 in July when she beat 200 dogs to win and is now competing at grade 4 level and Senior UKA. Kali has qualified for the Dog Vegas Final 2011 and SARL Rescue League Final 2011. “ When I started training Kali her spaniel side was quite dominant and she would go off looking for treats. The first time we competed I thought she would head off for the “hot dog van” but she didn’t and stayed totally focused.”  Kali obtained her Gold Good Citizens when she was just 1 year old.

Judith says “Agility is a fantastic hobby; it keeps both myself and dogs fit, healthy, active and happy.  I have made lots of new friends on the agility circuit and they are from all over the UK. My dogs are very active dogs and nutrition is very important.  They are looking really great on Burns Lamb and Brown rice, which I feed to them out of the agility season, and when competing I feed them on Burns High Energy Lamb and Rice.

I belong to Cynllan Lodge Dog Training Club in Llanharan and Caerphilly Agility Club.  I have been lucky to have excellent trainers who have helped me so much with my Agility training.”
