This week’s Observer ran a double page story asking “Who is to blame for Britain’s [human] obesity epidemic.” I’ve weighed in (no pun intended) by writing to the paper and to the Veterinary Record to say that we have a similar problem with pets. Vets, breeders, dog show judges are all encouraging excess weight in pets and even people in the street give a telling off to owners of thin dogs.
Story in the Carmarthen Journal
Care workers have had their pay cut from £6.90 to £6.60 an hour. The agency blames reduction in payments by the local authority. Carers are the ones who should be getting the hefty bonuses for doing such important work, not the bankers.
Tina, who is one of the cooks in the staff dining room, would really prefer to work in admin. I told her that anyone can do admin but not many who can cook like her.
We entered the FWAG (Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group) Silver Lapwing competition which judges farms on their commercial and conservation activities. This week the judges came to visit. I think we slipped up by not having a long-term plan. I want everything to happen next week.
