Just back from Discover Dogs which was a great success, as usual. We met lots of our present customers and some new ones too. I am a sucker for Border Collies so when I met up with Val of Valgrays Border Collie Rescue in Warlingham in Surrey, I signed up to support the centre with food for the next year.
At the show, Keith Allison, my old sparring partner introduced himself to me. I may have mentioned previously, but the first time I encountered him was when he phoned me to say that I shouldn’t describe my food as “holistic” because I used minerals and vitamins. In this way, he demonstrated that he didn’t know what the word “holistic” meant. Undeterred, he subsequently went on to form the “British Association of Holistic Nutrition and Medicine (BAHNM)”.
I don’t know if he was hoping I might sign up to his bogus Association. He told me that he and I have a lot in common. That’s true – we’re both white, male, middle-aged Brits. But as I explained to him, in my opinion, if we draw a line between what’s ethical and honest, he’s on one side of it and I’m on the other.
We stayed in a hotel called K&K George just round the corner from Earls Court. It’s Austrian-run and although I don’t want much myself it had the best breakfast of any hotel I’ve visited.
In the evening we went to an Italian restaurant for a meal. Why do they put chilli in everything? Our nutritionist Rebecca, who is always good for a quote, said her lips were on fire so from now on she is “Hot-lips Hutchens.”
