I try to keep fit by doing a little bit of running – more a shuffle actually - but I’ve been slacking lately thanks to the flu. On Saturday our 2-year old grand-daughter Martha was bouncing on the bed as I was putting on my T-shirt to get out on the road. Smiling from ear to ear she remarked “You’ve got boobies, Bampa,”. I need to do some upper-body work.

Our daughter Amy has been looking for a smallholding or farm for a wee while now. On Sunday we looked at a property which was in the “Upmarket” section of the agent’s website. A classic case of misrepresentation (apart from the price of course) as it was quite rough in places. I was reminded of a house I once looked at in which “Bedroom two benefits from light from the lounge”. That meant it had no window.

On the river walk on Sunday morning I met a stranger wearing a rucksack who looked like a serious walker. I said “Good morning” but he ignored me completely. A few yards later I heard him saying hello to Lizzie and he stopped to make a fuss of her. Isn’t it curious how people can be comfortable with animals but not other humans?

The programme for PATS (Pet and Aquatic Trade Show) at which I’m giving two short seminars has just arrived. It isn’t until the end of March but I’m getting the jitters already.
