“This event was held in the YKC ring at Crufts and I would have to get in to the top three in my sub-division to qualify for the final which would be held the same day but in the main arena. This was Moss’s first time at Crufts and my first time competing there so I was very nervous, much as I tried not to show it!
When it was nearly our turn I was trying to get Moss very excited as this would hopefully make him go faster. He was getting excited but not like he usually is; he was looking more cautious due to the hundreds of spectators!
As I stepped on the line I just thought I needed to be confident in Moss and myself. We set off!
He ran round a lot better than I thought he would. He was nice and speedy, not distracted by the commentator or the hundreds of people watching (much to my surprise)and we got a clear round. Fantastic, that’s all I wanted! Moss did me proud and didn’t let any pressure get to him; hopefully I will be able to say that again next time.
When the results were called out although we hadn’t got in the top three we had got 5th place! I was very proud of him. Just a couple of years ago we couldn’t get round a course within the course time and now I can say he has got 5th place competing at Crufts!”
As you can probably tell Martin is, quite rightly, extremely proud of Moss and we are sure they will do even better next year!
